to our family.
We want to transform visiting the optometrist into something you want to do instead of something you have to do. When you are here, you are family. We are here to take care of you in a welcoming environment and to make your visit as pleasant as we can.

I was born and raised in Kansas where I practiced optometry for four years before finally joining my wife, Dr. Julie Phan, in sunny southern California. It was always our dream to own and operate a private optometry practice ever since we were both in optometry school. Our mission is to build a practice focused on delivering patient-centric care with an emphasis on exceptional individualized service.
I practice full scope optometry with an emphasis in dry eye therapy and specialty contact lenses. With the rates of near sightedness drastically increasing in the US and around the world, myopia control therapy is an area of particular interest in our practice.
Outside of the office, I enjoy playing basketball, traveling, and watching movies. I am blessed to be a first time father to our son, Zachary, and now my world revolves around him. I am still learning all that California has to offer and am excited to be here in the community of San Marino and surrounding San Gabriel Valley cities. I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore!
I am a proud California native and an alum from UCLA (Go Bruins!) where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. I earned my Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, graduating as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honors society.
I am a firm believer that patients deserve highly personalized, one-on-one care when they come in for their appointments. I enjoy taking the time to really get to know every patient on a personal level—which allows me to best address my patient's visual needs.
I am always looking for ways to stay active whether it's hiking or dancing and I love playing with my dog, Toby. I recently gave birth to our first son, Zachary in December 2018, and I am so in love with him! I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and look forward to meeting you!
My journey in the optical field began in 2014. I started off with contact lenses and continued to expand my knowledge in optical glasses in 2016. I obtained my American Board of Opticianry certificate in 2016.
Vision isn't just a necessity, it can also be an accessory. The importance of vision is to see the beauty of life, which is why I also love to dabble with cosmetics. Creating looks and accessorizing with some colored contacts or appealing frames always help complete my final touch. The beauty to help people see the world clearer and to also see a way to express yourself through style has made me love my career in optics.
